How To Be Autistic
Teaching each other the skills we were never taught
None of us got the manual for surviving in neurotypical spaces. We had to figure it out as we went along. This series aims to make that process a little bit easier, filling in the knowledge and skill gaps we have and helping each other navigate a world that prioritizes teaching us to mask over teaching us to feel comfortable and capable.
Each class will tackle one practical topic, led by autistic and allied guests who are experts in their fields. Possible topics include:
- Getting Assessed: should you, and how does that process work?
- Comfort Tools: fidgets, weighted vests, and the eternal quest for the perfect ear plugs
- Boundaries and Consent: what makes you feel safe and comfortable with strangers and with the people you love?
- Unmasking: yes it's possible!
- Your Space, Your Rules: how to set up your home to work for you, not for how it "should" be
Come as you are, stim however you like, leave when you need to.
