Volunteering at APC

Volunteering with Autistic Pride Chattanooga is flexible, strengths‑based, and rooted in community care. We don’t expect anyone to fit into rigid roles or commit to more than they can sustain. Instead, we match your interests, skills, and capacity with our niche needs so you can contribute in ways that feel meaningful, supportive, and aligned with who you are.

How Our Volunteer Process Works

We use a simple volunteer interest form with optional open‑ended questions. You’re welcome to answer as much or as little as you want. Your responses help us understand your strengths, needs, and interests so we can connect you with roles that fit you—not the other way around. If forms are not accessible to you for any reason, you can reach out to us directly and one of us will talk with you in whatever way works best for you.

What You Can Expect

Our volunteer roles are designed with neurodivergent needs in mind. You can expect:

Clear, direct communication

Low‑pressure participation

Options for online or in‑person involvement

Roles that adapt to your capacity

Support from actual humans, not automated systems

Accommodations that work for you — you are the expert on what you need, and we trust that

Direct invitations to participate, never pressure or expectation

We value your time, your energy, and your boundaries.

Types of Volunteer Opportunities

Our needs shift throughout the year, and we welcome a wide range of involvement. Some of the areas where volunteers contribute include:

Community events and meet‑ups

Virtual hangouts and online community support

ARFID and food insecurity project support

Outreach, accessibility, and resource sharing

Creative, design, or communications help

Behind‑the‑scenes logistics and organization

One‑off or occasional support for special events

Simple, hands‑on tasks like making buttons, tying labels onto fidgets, and helping with event setup and breakdown

You don’t need experience. You don’t need to be “good at” anything specific. You just need to show up as yourself.

How We Match Volunteers

We review every form individually and match volunteers based on their interests, strengths, and availability. Because our needs evolve, we may reach out right away or contact you when a role aligns with what you shared. We also offer the option to be included on a shared volunteer list for organizations in the broader network of the Chattanooga Pride Food Coalition. While allies are welcome to volunteer, we also invite neurodivergent community members to consider joining our Neurodiverse Advisory Panel.

Get Started

To begin, fill out our volunteer interest form. It’s short, flexible, and designed to help us understand how you’d like to be involved. You can also email us directly at any time, and you will always hear back from an actual human being.

A Warm Invitation

Whether you want to help occasionally, contribute behind the scenes, take on a specific project, or become an ambassador,  there is a place for you here. Your presence, ideas, and energy help us build a community rooted in pride, care, and collective imagination.
